Together Apart

In Uzbekistan, many families depend on remittances sent by relatives working in Russia.

Problem.
These transfers play a crucial role in supporting family well-being and making life plans possible. Despite the kilometers and time zones separating them, families stay closely connected — they talk frequently, make plans, and dream together.

Solution.
To visually represent the connection between migrant workers and their families. The film is created using a split-screen technique, where the horizontal division of the screen allows parallel storytelling of migrants’ lives and the lives of their families living apart. The upper part of the screen shows everyday life of families in Uzbekistan, while the lower part depicts the daily routines of their relatives working abroad.
